Description
Colorful and playful bagel bites perfect for family gatherings or parties.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- Natural coloring agents (beet powder, turmeric, spirulina)
- 1 cup cream cheese (or flavored spreads, hummus, avocado)
- Honey, peanut butter, or yogurt (for sweetness)
- Fresh herbs (chives, basil, cilantro)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, salt, and warm water. Mix until a dough forms, kneading it on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Divvy the dough into several balls. Use natural colorants to color portions of the dough.
- Roll little balls from each color dough, then flatten them into bagel bites.
- Bring a pot of water to a simmer. Drop the bagel bites into the water for 1-2 minutes until they puff up.
- Place them on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before topping with spreads and garnishing with herbs.
Notes
Experiment with colors and toppings! Ensure the water temperature is right for activating the yeast.
