Description
A tender, juicy pulled beef sandwich perfect for Game Day, topped with zesty pickles and tangy sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 pounds beef brisket
- 2 yellow onions, sliced
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or chipotle powder for smokiness)
- Salt, to taste
- Soft sandwich buns
- Crispy pickles, for topping
- Coleslaw, for topping
Instructions
- Prepare the brisket: Start by seasoning the beef brisket generously with salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and a hint of cayenne. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
- Sear the meat: In a large skillet, heat some olive oil on medium-high. Sear the brisket for about 3-4 minutes on each side until it develops a lovely brown crust.
- Slow cook: Once seared, place the brisket in a slow cooker or a Dutch oven. Add sliced onions, minced garlic, and enough beef broth to cover the bottom. Cook on low for around 8 hours, or until it’s fork-tender.
- Add barbecue sauce: Half an hour before serving, mix in your favorite barbecue sauce, allowing it to meld with the meat.
- Shred the beef: Once done, gently pull apart the brisket using two forks. Mix it back into the flavorful juices.
- Assemble the sandwich: Place a generous amount of the pulled beef onto the bun, top with crispy pickles, coleslaw, and an extra drizzle of barbecue sauce if desired.
- Serve and enjoy: Enjoy these sandwiches under the camaraderie of your loved ones.
Notes
Let the brisket rest before shredding to ensure even distribution of juices for enhanced flavor.
