Description
Delicious homemade peppermint patties with a creamy mint filling coated in rich chocolate, evoking memories and joy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional)
- Unsweetened coconut flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar and cocoa powder. Gradually add heavy cream and peppermint extract, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Shape the patties: Using your hands, measure out small portions of the filling and roll into balls before flattening them into discs. Chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
- Melt the chocolate: In a heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate chips over a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring until smooth.
- Coat the patties: Dip each chilled patty into the melted chocolate, ensuring they are fully coated and allow excess to drip off.
- Chill again: Place the coated patties back in the fridge for another 30 minutes to let the chocolate set completely.
- Serve and enjoy: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
Notes
Chilling times are important for texture; avoid rushing. High-quality chocolate and pure peppermint extract enhance flavor.
