Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, whisk together brown sugar, molasses, ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and water.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.
- Once the mixture comes to a gentle boil, reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and let the syrup cool.
- Once cooled, pour it into an airtight container or glass bottle. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Notes
For a thicker syrup, allow it to simmer longer, but be cautious not to overdo it as it will thicken upon cooling.
