Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced
  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Begin by thinly slicing your beef against the grain and season with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef and sear without moving for about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Flip the beef and cook for another 2 minutes, then remove from the skillet.
  4. In the same skillet, add another drizzle of olive oil if needed. Toss in minced garlic, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add the asparagus and sauté for around 4-5 minutes until tender yet still crunchy.
  6. Return the beef to the skillet, add soy sauce, and stir-fry everything together for another 2-3 minutes. Ensure everything is well mixed and heated through.
  7. Serve over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds or fresh herbs like cilantro.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute beef with chicken or tofu. You can also replace asparagus with green beans or snap peas.
