Description

Savory French Dip Squares with tender roast beef, gooey cheese, and a buttery crust, served with warm au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Baguette or Slider Rolls
  • 1 pound Roast Beef, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces Swiss or Provolone Cheese
  • 4 tablespoons Butter, melted
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme, dried
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano, dried
  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • 1 Onion, sliced and caramelized

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare a baking dish by greasing or lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Sauté the onions and garlic in a skillet over medium heat with butter until soft and caramelized.
  4. Assemble the squares by layering roast beef, sautéed onions and garlic, and cheese on the bottom half of the baguette.
  5. Top with the other half of the bread, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with garlic powder and herbs.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  7. Prepare the au jus by simmering beef broth with Worcestershire sauce, if desired.
  8. Serve warm, sliced into squares or triangles, alongside au jus for dipping.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding horseradish to the beef or mixing some grated parmesan into the cheese.
