Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and spices. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, blending just until combined.
- Chill the Dough: Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 60 minutes.
- Roll and Cut: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick. Use festive cookie cutters to create your shapes.
- Bake the Cookies: Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Cool Completely: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Make the Frosting: In a bowl, beat together softened butter, powdered sugar, and a splash of milk and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Decorate: Frost the cooled cookies and add sprinkles or edible glitter for extra festive flair.

Notes
For a dairy-free option, replace butter with coconut oil and use almond or oat milk in the frosting. A gluten-free version can be made with a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
