Description
Delightful and buttery wreath-shaped cookies that evoke childhood nostalgia and warmth, perfect for any festive occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Unsalted Butter, softened
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 2 large Eggs
- 2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
- Optional: 1/2 tsp Almond Extract
- Optional: Zest of 1 Lemon
- Optional: Confectioners’ Sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Cream the butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and a pinch of salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture, blending until just combined.
- Wrap the dough in plastic and refrigerate for at least an hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll chilled dough into small balls, shape into ropes, and form into wreaths.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack. Dust with confectioners’ sugar if desired.
Notes
Chilling the dough is crucial to prevent spreading. Experiment with flavors by adding almond extract or lemon zest.
