Description
A delightful autumn dish featuring baked apples stuffed with feta cheese, cranberries, and honey, perfect as an appetizer, side dish, or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 firm apples (like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
- 1 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
- 1/4 cup honey (plus extra for drizzling)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- Cinnamon or nutmeg for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Wash the apples thoroughly and slice off the top to create a “lid.” Hollow out the inside, removing the core.
- In a mixing bowl, combine crumbled feta cheese, cranberries, and a drizzle of honey. Add chopped nuts if desired and mix well.
- Stuff each hollowed-out apple with the filling, leaving a little space at the top.
- Place the stuffed apples in a baking dish, drizzle with more honey, cover with foil, and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Remove the foil in the last 10 minutes of baking for a golden top. Allow to cool slightly before serving; dust with cinnamon or nutmeg if desired.
Notes
Choose firm apples to ensure they hold their shape while baking. Adjust sweetness based on the tartness of cranberries.
