Description

Delightfully fluffy Vegan Ube Rolls infused with the naturally sweet flavor of ube, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup ube puree (canned or homemade)
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour blend)
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar (or maple syrup/agave nectar)
  • 1 cup plant-based milk (almond, oat, or coconut)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup vegan butter (or coconut oil)

Instructions

  1. Warm the plant-based milk in a saucepan and sprinkle in the instant yeast and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, ube puree, and melted vegan butter. Mix until combined and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle on a floured surface. Roll tightly and pinch to seal.
  5. Cut the dough into 1-2 inch sections and place cut side up in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving warm, optionally drizzling with vegan butter or coconut glaze.

Notes

Serve with coconut cream or nutty spreads. Perfect for brunch gatherings or as a side dish.
