Description

Delightfully versatile tarts filled with sautéed mushrooms, aromatic garlic, and fresh herbs, all encased in flaky puff pastry.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 2 cups fresh mushrooms (shiitake or cremini)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp honey or balsamic vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Finely chop the mushrooms and mince the garlic.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat, add garlic, and sauté for 1 minute.
  4. Add mushrooms and sauté until golden, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and fresh herbs.
  5. Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into circles.
  6. Layer cooked mushrooms in a greased cast-iron skillet, drizzle with honey or balsamic vinegar.
  7. Cover with puff pastry and tuck edges down gently.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let cool for a minute, then flip onto a serving plate to serve.

Notes

Avoid overfilling the tarts to prevent a messy outcome. Use fresh mushrooms for better flavor.
