Ingredients

- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 2 cups fresh mushrooms (shiitake or cremini)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 2 tbsp fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp honey or balsamic vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Finely chop the mushrooms and mince the garlic.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat, add garlic, and sauté for 1 minute.
- Add mushrooms and sauté until golden, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and fresh herbs.
- Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into circles.
- Layer cooked mushrooms in a greased cast-iron skillet, drizzle with honey or balsamic vinegar.
- Cover with puff pastry and tuck edges down gently.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for a minute, then flip onto a serving plate to serve.
Notes
Avoid overfilling the tarts to prevent a messy outcome. Use fresh mushrooms for better flavor.
