- 2 cups cooked jasmine or basmati rice
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp Italian herbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Sauté the diced onion and minced garlic in olive oil until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, seasoning with salt, pepper, and spices.
- Stir in the tomato sauce and cooked rice, mixing well.
- Incorporate chopped bell peppers if using.
- Mix half of the cheese into the rice mixture, then sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Feel free to substitute ground beef with turkey or lentils for a lighter or vegetarian option. Don’t skip the resting time after baking to enhance flavors.
