- 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons peanut or vegetable oil
Instructions
- Prepare your ingredients: Chop and measure out the chicken, basil, garlic, chilies, and veggies.
- Heat your pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat the oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Cook the chicken: Add the chicken, season lightly with salt and pepper, and sauté for 4-5 minutes until no longer pink.
- Add garlic and chilies: Toss in the minced garlic and chopped chilies, cooking for an additional minute.
- Vegetable time: Introduce the bell peppers and onions, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Sauce it up: Pour in the soy sauce and a splash of fish sauce, letting everything simmer for 1-2 minutes.
- Finish with basil: Toss in the fresh Thai basil, stirring until the leaves wilt slightly, about 30 seconds.
- Serve and savor: Dish it out over jasmine rice or noodles.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, substitute chicken with tofu. Feel free to experiment with other vegetables such as zucchini or carrots.
