Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Rinse the cranberries and discard any soft or damaged ones. Zest and juice your orange, setting them aside for later use.
  2. Combine in a pot: In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, mix the cranberries, sugar, orange juice, zest, and water. Stir gently over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Cook the cranberries: Once mixed, crank the heat to medium-high and bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
  4. Simmer and thicken: Lower the heat and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.
  5. Jar it up: Remove from heat and ladle into sterilized jars, leaving headspace at the top.
  6. Cool and store: Allow to cool at room temperature before refrigerating or canning for longer preservation.

Notes

For a healthier option, substitute sugar with honey or maple syrup. This jam freezes well for up to a year.
