Description
A delightful blend of fresh cranberries with warm spices and orange zest, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh cranberries
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Prep your ingredients: Rinse the cranberries and discard any soft or damaged ones. Zest and juice your orange, setting them aside for later use.
- Combine in a pot: In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, mix the cranberries, sugar, orange juice, zest, and water. Stir gently over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Cook the cranberries: Once mixed, crank the heat to medium-high and bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
- Simmer and thicken: Lower the heat and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.
- Jar it up: Remove from heat and ladle into sterilized jars, leaving headspace at the top.
- Cool and store: Allow to cool at room temperature before refrigerating or canning for longer preservation.
Notes
For a healthier option, substitute sugar with honey or maple syrup. This jam freezes well for up to a year.
