- 12 oz fresh cranberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 packet pectin
Instructions
- Prepare the cranberries by rinsing them under cold water and discarding any mushy or unripe berries.
- Combine the cranberries, sugar, orange zest, orange juice, and spices in a large pot.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat until it reaches a gentle boil and the cranberries burst.
- Prepare the pectin by mixing it with a small amount of sugar in a separate bowl.
- Add the pectin mixture to the pot and bring to a rapid boil for 1-2 minutes.
- Test the consistency by dropping a spoonful on a cold plate to check if it holds its shape.
- Jar the hot jam into sterilized glass jars, leaving about a quarter-inch of headspace.
- Cool the jars at room temperature and store in the refrigerator.
Notes
Adjust the sugar levels according to taste. This jam freezes well for up to six months.
