Description
A delightful dish that combines the savory and sweet flavors of sweet chili sauce with crispy tofu, perfect for family meals and entertaining.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 block firm or extra-firm tofu
- 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Press the tofu by wrapping it in a clean kitchen towel and placing a heavy object on top for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
- Cut the pressed tofu into cubes or rectangular pieces. In a bowl, mix sweet chili sauce, minced garlic, and lime juice.
- Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add marinated tofu in a single layer and cook until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Pour the remaining sweet chili mixture over the tofu, allowing it to bubble and thicken slightly in the skillet.
- Serve the Sweet Chili Tofu warm, garnished with chopped green onions, over rice or with sautéed vegetables.
Notes
Pressing the tofu for enough time is crucial for achieving the right texture. Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure the tofu crisps up nicely.
