- 1 loaf of sourdough or baguette, sliced thick
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- Fresh herbs (parsley or basil) for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Slice your bread into thick, generous pieces—about an inch thick.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the minced garlic and let it cook for about a minute.
- Brush the garlic butter generously over both sides of each slice of bread.
- Arrange the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Top each slice with a good helping of the cheese blend.
- Bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- For an extra crispy finish, broil for an additional 1-2 minutes, keeping an eye on it.
- Once out of the oven, sprinkle with fresh herbs and serve immediately.
Notes
For a wood-fired flavor, consider grilling the slices instead of baking.
