Description
A nostalgic grape oolong jelly cake that combines sweet grapes and fragrant oolong tea, perfect for summer gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons oolong tea leaves or 2 tea bags
- 1 cup water (for agar-agar)
- 2 teaspoons agar-agar or 1 tablespoon gelatin
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 cups fresh grapes (Concord or red grapes)
Instructions
- Brew the Oolong Tea: Boil 2 cups of water, add tea and steep for 5–7 minutes.
- Prepare the Agar-Agar: In another saucepan, dissolve agar-agar in 1 cup water, bring to a boil for 2–3 minutes.
- Combine the Mixtures: In tea, add sugar and lemon juice, then mix in the dissolved agar-agar.
- Prepare the Grapes: Halve the grapes and remove seeds.
- Assemble the Cake: Layer grapes in a pan and pour the tea mixture over them.
- Chill and Set: Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.
- Serve: Invert onto a plate and enjoy, optionally with whipped cream.
Notes
For a lighter flavor, substitute oolong tea with green tea and agar-agar with carrageenan if needed.
