Description
Delightful pastries filled with cream cheese and fresh strawberries, perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- Pastry dough (store-bought puff pastry or homemade)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: If using homemade pastry, chill it for at least 30 minutes. Store-bought puff pastry can be rolled out directly.
- Make the filling: In a bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth, then fold in chopped strawberries.
- Roll the dough: Roll out the pastry dough to about 1/8 inch thickness and cut into squares or circles.
- Fill the pastry: Place a spoonful of the cream cheese filling in the center of each piece. Do not overfill.
- Seal the pastries: Fold over the filling and pinch edges to seal. Crimp with a fork for decoration.
- Egg wash: Brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange pastries on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool and serve: Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, but also delicious at room temperature. Store in an airtight container.
