Description

A delightful blend of sweet honey and hearty oats in a soft and chewy sourdough bread, perfect for breakfast or as a side for your meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Active Sourdough Starter
  • 3 cups Bread Flour
  • 1 cup Oat Flour
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 cups Water

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Sourdough Starter: Feed it a few hours before you start, so it’s bubbly and active.
  2. Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the active starter, bread flour, oat flour, honey, salt, and water. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough: Turn it out onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover it. Allow it to rise at room temperature for 4-6 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the Loaf: Gently deflate the dough on a floured surface and shape it into your desired loaf shape.
  6. Second Rise: Let it rest for an additional hour. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  7. Bake: Create slashes in the top of the loaf for steam release. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 190°F (88°C).
  8. Cool: Allow it to cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute honey with maple syrup or agave nectar. Ensure the sourdough starter is active for the best results.
