Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for sautéing)
  • 1 cup diced mushrooms (cremini or button)
  • 2 minced garlic cloves

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add diced mushrooms and minced garlic, sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, mix egg, milk, and melted butter. Stir wet and dry ingredients together until just combined.
  3. Shape ground beef into two thin patties, season with salt and pepper, and cook in the same skillet over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. Reduce skillet heat to medium, pour a ladle of pancake batter, place a burger patty on top, press lightly, cook for 1 minute, then flip and cook until golden.
  5. Serve hot with toppings like maple syrup and fresh herbs.

Notes

Feel free to substitute ground beef with turkey or mushrooms for a lighter version.
