- 1 lb ground meat (lamb, beef, or turkey)
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- 1 cup peas
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1 tsp fresh thyme
- 1 tsp fresh rosemary
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups mashed potatoes (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the ground meat in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
- Add onions, garlic, and mushrooms; cook until onions are translucent.
- Season with thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper.
- Transfer the mixture to a slow cooker and stir in Worcestershire sauce.
- Layer the mashed potatoes over the meat mixture.
- Set the slow cooker to low and cook for 6-8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
- About 30 minutes before serving, sprinkle the cheese over the top and cover to let it melt.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving and enjoy!
Notes
For a lighter version, swap ground meat for lentils or chickpeas. For dairy-free, use cashew cream or nutritional yeast.
