Description
A tender and flavorful pulled beef dish slow-cooked in barbecue sauce, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 lbs beef chuck roast
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from the beef chuck roast, pat dry, and season with salt, black pepper, and spices.
- Sear the beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned on all sides (optional).
- Layer sliced onion and minced garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Place the seasoned beef roast over the onions and garlic.
- In a separate bowl, mix together BBQ sauce and beef broth, then pour over the beef.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-6 hours, until fork-tender.
- Remove the beef, shred with forks, and return to the sauce.
- Serve with your favorite sides.
Notes
Avoid lifting the lid of the slow cooker too often to maintain heat during cooking. If the beef isn’t tender after the suggested time, continue cooking until desired tenderness is achieved.
