- 1 pound fresh sea scallops
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Juice and zest of 1 lemon
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Fresh parsley or basil, for garnish
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Pat the scallops dry with a paper towel and season with salt and pepper.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
- Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet.
- Place the scallops in the skillet, ensuring they are not crowded, and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
- Gently flip the scallops, then add minced garlic, remaining butter, and half of the lemon juice; baste the scallops for another 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat, finish with the remaining lemon juice, zest, and fresh herbs, then serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, ensure the scallops are dry before cooking and do not overcrowd the pan to achieve a good sear.
