- 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, sliced
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- Green onions, sliced for garnish
- Rice or noodles, for serving
Instructions
- Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and fresh ginger until well blended.
- Optionally, sear the beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned.
- Place the beef in the slow cooker and pour the sauce over it, stirring to coat.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
- Toward the end of cooking, mix cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry and stir it into the slow cooker to thicken for about 15 minutes.
- Serve over rice or noodles and sprinkle with sliced green onions.
Notes
For a healthier option, use lean cuts of beef or low-sodium soy sauce. Frozen beef may require additional cooking time.
