Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing well.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in crushed pretzels, saving some for topping.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, drizzle with salted caramel, then spoon remaining batter on top. Swirl the caramel into the batter.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden and center is set but still soft.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift out to cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

Avoid overmixing the batter and ensure butter is not too hot when melting to maintain texture.
