Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Add chopped chocolate or cocoa powder and stir until smooth.
  3. Whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs until pale and fluffy.
  4. Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Sift in the flour and salt, folding gently to combine.
  6. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Prepare the caramel sauce while brownies are baking by melting sugar until golden, then adding cream and butter, stirring until smooth.
  9. Pour the warm caramel over the cooled brownies and sprinkle with sea salt.
  10. Cool completely before slicing into squares.
