Description
Delicious salmon patties that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, perfect for any family gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh salmon, skinless or canned
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (traditional or panko)
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 3 green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (dill, parsley, or cilantro)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (optional)
- Zest of 1 lemon
- Oil for cooking
Instructions
- Prepare the Salmon: If using fresh salmon, steam or bake it until fully cooked. Flake it into a large mixing bowl, ensuring there are no bones.
- Mix Ingredients: Add breadcrumbs, finely chopped green onions, minced garlic, fresh herbs, and seasonings to the salmon. Gently fold everything together.
- Make the Patties: Beat the egg in a separate bowl, then mix it into the salmon mixture. Form the mixture into small patties with your hands.
- Cook the Patties: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add oil. Once hot, gently place the patties in the pan without crowding. Cook until golden brown on each side, about 4-5 minutes.
- Serve and Enjoy: Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve immediately with a squeeze of fresh lemon and your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Chill formed patties for at least 20 minutes before cooking to help them hold together. Adjust breadcrumb amount if mixture is too wet.
