Description

Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, these Reuben Balls are a delightful twist on a classic sandwich, served with a spicy Thousand Island dressing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked corned beef, finely chopped
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (fresh or panko)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp ground mustard
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, breadcrumbs, egg, and spices until thoroughly mixed.
  2. Take a portion of the mixture and mold it into a ball size of a golf ball.
  3. Place the formed balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a deep skillet until shimmering. Drop each ball into the oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Transfer the cooked balls to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. For the Spicy Thousand Island dressing, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, and relish until creamy and spicy.

Notes

Test the oil temperature by placing a small piece of bread—if it bubbles and sizzles, it’s ready. Avoid overpacking the filling to maintain the desired texture.
