Description

A delightful fusion dish capturing the essence of a classic Philly cheesesteak, with savory beef, earthy mushrooms, and gooey cheese served in roasted bell peppers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bell peppers (red, green, or yellow)
  • 1 lb ground beef or thinly sliced steak
  • 1 cup mushrooms (button or cremini), chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup provolone or cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Italian seasoning, to taste
  • Olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the peppers by slicing off the tops and removing the seeds.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion and mushrooms until tender.
  4. Add the ground beef, breaking it up, and season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned.
  5. Stir in shredded cheese until melted and combined with the meat mixture.
  6. Stuff the peppers with the beef and cheese filling.
  7. Place the stuffed peppers in a baking dish, cover with foil, and bake for 20-30 minutes. Remove foil for the last 10 minutes to brown the tops.
  8. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

For a lighter meal, use ground turkey or chicken. For vegetarian options, substitute with sautéed vegetables or lentils.
