Description

A delightful blend of tart cranberries and sweet orange in a buttery crust, perfect for festive feasting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Juice and zest of 1 large orange
  • ½ cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: Combine flour with cold, cubed unsalted butter, mixing until crumbly. Gradually add cold water to form a dough, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the dough, place in a pie pan, and bake for 10 minutes.
  3. Make the filling: In a bowl, mix cranberries, sugar, orange juice, zest, flour, cornstarch, and spices. Stir to coat the cranberries and let sit.
  4. Fill the crust with the cranberry mixture, ensuring even distribution.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until cranberries pop and the filling bubbles. Cover crust with foil if browning too quickly.
  6. Cool for at least 1 hour before serving. Enjoy with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute honey or maple syrup for sugar. You can also use frozen cranberries without thawing.
