Description
A delightful blend of tart cranberries and sweet orange in a buttery crust, perfect for festive feasting.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh cranberries
- 1 cup sugar
- Juice and zest of 1 large orange
- ½ cup flour
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
- Prepare the crust: Combine flour with cold, cubed unsalted butter, mixing until crumbly. Gradually add cold water to form a dough, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the dough, place in a pie pan, and bake for 10 minutes.
- Make the filling: In a bowl, mix cranberries, sugar, orange juice, zest, flour, cornstarch, and spices. Stir to coat the cranberries and let sit.
- Fill the crust with the cranberry mixture, ensuring even distribution.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until cranberries pop and the filling bubbles. Cover crust with foil if browning too quickly.
- Cool for at least 1 hour before serving. Enjoy with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute honey or maple syrup for sugar. You can also use frozen cranberries without thawing.
