Description

A heartwarming pie that encapsulates the flavors of fall with tart cranberries, sweet brown sugar, and a buttery crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Ice water as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust: Mix flour, salt, and cubed butter until coarse crumbs form. Gradually add ice water until dough comes together. Chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Make the filling: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine cranberries, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange zest. Stir until cranberries soften, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in cornstarch.
  3. Assemble the pie: Preheat oven to 375°F. Roll out chilled crust and place in pie dish. Pour filling into crust.
  4. Bake: Bake for 35-40 minutes until crust is golden and filling bubbles. Cool before slicing.
  5. Serve: Top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Use fresh cranberries for the best flavor. Chill butter for a flakier crust.
