- 1 package of cannoli shells (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup crushed pistachios or candied orange peel
Instructions
- If making your own shells, roll out the dough thinly and cut into circles. Wrap around metal cannoli forms and fry until golden and crispy.
- In a large bowl, combine ricotta and mascarpone, then gradually add powdered sugar until desired sweetness is reached. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Fill a piping bag with the cream filling and generously fill each cooled shell, ensuring it is packed in both ends.
- Dip the ends of the filled cups in chocolate chips or crushed pistachios, and dust with powdered sugar.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to firm up the filling and meld flavors.
Notes
For best results, fill the cannoli shells shortly before serving to maintain their crispness. You can prepare the shells and filling in advance but assemble just before serving.
