Description
Crispy, savory crostini topped with sautéed mushrooms, garlic, and rich bacon, perfect for brunch gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 fresh baguette
- 6 slices thick-cut bacon
- 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
- Fresh chives or parsley for garnish
- Optional toppings: goat cheese or Parmesan
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the baguette into half-inch pieces and place on a baking sheet. Brush with melted butter or olive oil. Bake for 10 minutes until crisp and lightly toasted.
- Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 4-6 minutes on each side. Reserve the drippings and chop the bacon into small pieces.
- In the same skillet, sauté the minced garlic in reserved bacon drippings for 30 seconds, then add the mushrooms and sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Assemble the crostini by topping each toasted baguette slice with sautéed mushrooms and bacon. Add cheese if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For a lighter version, use turkey bacon and gluten-free bread. Make sure to sauté mushrooms until they are dry to avoid sogginess.
