Description

A comforting skillet meal combining savory sausage, sweet maple syrup, and earthy cabbage, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb sausage (pork, chicken, or turkey)
  • 1 medium green cabbage, sliced into ribbons
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh herbs (thyme or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Chop onion, mince garlic, and slice cabbage.
  2. Heat the Skillet: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Sauté Onion and Garlic: Push sausage to one side, add onion, and sauté for 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Incorporate Cabbage: Add cabbage and stir, cooking until it wilts down, about 5-10 minutes.
  5. Add the Flavorings: Drizzle in maple syrup and add Dijon mustard, tossing to combine.
  6. Simmer and Season: Let simmer until heated through, taste and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Finish with Herbs: Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh herbs. Serve warm!

Notes

For additional flavor, add a splash of apple cider vinegar before serving. This dish pairs well with crusty bread or a simple salad.
