Description
A cozy dish combining the sweetness of maple syrup with the tang of Dijon mustard, featuring savory sausage and sautéed cabbage.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb spicy Italian sausage (or chicken/plant-based sausage)
- 1 medium green cabbage, chopped
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (thyme, parsley) for garnish
Instructions
- Prep your space by gathering all your ingredients and chopping the cabbage, slicing the sausage, and mincing the garlic and onion.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic until fragrant and onions are translucent, about 3–5 minutes.
- Push the onions and garlic to the side and add the sausage. Cook until browned, stirring occasionally.
- Add the chopped cabbage, season with salt, pepper, and herbs. Cook until the cabbage wilts, about 5–7 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together maple syrup and Dijon mustard. Pour over the skillet mixture and stir to combine. Let simmer for an additional 3–4 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasoning. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm.
Notes
