Description
A festive dish featuring a bone-in ham glazed with a rich mix of maple syrup, bourbon, garlic, and herbs, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bone-in, fully cooked ham
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine the maple syrup, bourbon, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, garlic, and black pepper, whisking until well combined.
- Score the ham’s surface in a diamond pattern.
- Baste the ham with half of the glaze, ensuring it’s well-coated.
- Tent the ham with aluminum foil and roast for 1 to 1.5 hours, basting every 20-30 minutes.
- Remove the foil in the last 30 minutes to caramelize.
- Check that the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C).
- Let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For an alcohol-free version, substitute bourbon with apple juice or a splash of vinegar. Ensure ham rests before slicing for optimal juiciness.
