Description

Deliciously flaky puff pastry filled with a rich blend of sautéed mushrooms, fresh thyme, and cream cheese, perfect for gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed mushrooms (cremini and shiitake), finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or dried thyme)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (or ricotta)
  • 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep the Ingredients: Finely chop mushrooms, onion, and garlic.
  2. Sauté the Filling: Melt butter in a skillet, add onions and garlic, and cook until translucent.
  3. Add mushrooms and cook until browned; stir in thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Remove from heat and fold in cream cheese until mixed.
  5. Roll out puff pastry and cut into 4-inch squares.
  6. Fill each square with mushroom mixture and seal edges.
  7. Brush with egg wash for shine.
  8. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, use fresh mushrooms and don’t overcrowd the pan while sautéing.
