Ingredients

- 2 cups mixed mushrooms (cremini and shiitake), finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or dried thyme)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 ounces cream cheese (or ricotta)
- 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
- 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prep the Ingredients: Finely chop mushrooms, onion, and garlic.
- Sauté the Filling: Melt butter in a skillet, add onions and garlic, and cook until translucent.
- Add mushrooms and cook until browned; stir in thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Remove from heat and fold in cream cheese until mixed.
- Roll out puff pastry and cut into 4-inch squares.
- Fill each square with mushroom mixture and seal edges.
- Brush with egg wash for shine.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For best results, use fresh mushrooms and don’t overcrowd the pan while sautéing.
