Description
A delightful combination of umami-rich mushrooms and fragrant thyme, enveloped in buttery puff pastry, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup mixed mushrooms (shiitake, cremini, button), diced
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter (or olive oil)
- 1/4 cup Gruyère or Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, for egg wash
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: Clean and dice the mushrooms. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add mushrooms and salt. Cook until they release juices and turn golden, about 5-7 minutes.
- Mix in thyme, then remove from heat and let cool.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface into a rectangle. Cut into squares or rectangles.
- Fill each pastry piece with a tablespoon of mushroom mixture. Seal edges using a fork.
- Brush the tops with egg wash for a golden hue.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden.
- Serve warm with a side of dipping sauce or salad.
Notes
Ensure mushrooms are well sautéed to prevent the pastry from becoming soggy. Don’t overfill to avoid bursting.
