Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground meat (beef, turkey, or pork)
  • 2 cups low-sugar tomato sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 zucchini, sliced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the ground meat in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Add the mushrooms and cook until the meat is almost done.
  4. Stir in the tomato sauce and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Layer half of the meat mixture in a baking dish, followed by half of the cheese.
  6. Repeat, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
  8. Broil for an additional 2-3 minutes for extra crispiness.
  9. Let it sit for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
