Description
A moist and buttery cake filled with the sweetness of ripe pears, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe pears, peeled and sliced
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar (brown sugar recommended)
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- Sliced almonds (optional, for topping)
- Turbinado sugar (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Prepare the pears: Peel and slice the pears, then toss them in a bit of lemon juice to prevent browning.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter-sugar mix, alternating with milk until well blended.
- Gently fold in the prepared pears until evenly distributed.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top and adding almonds or turbinado sugar if desired.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool for 15 minutes before removing from the pan. Serve warm with powdered sugar or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
For variations, you can substitute pears with apples or peaches, and coconut oil can replace butter for a dairy-free version.
