- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup yogurt (or buttermilk)
- 1/2 cup water (adjust as needed)
- 2 tablespoons butter or ghee (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well before adding in the cottage cheese and yogurt.
- Gradually pour in water while stirring to form a soft dough. Knead for about 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- Once rested, divide the dough into equal portions and roll each piece into a ball, then flatten it on a floured surface.
- Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook each piece for about 2-3 minutes until bubbles form, then flip it over and cook for another 2-3 minutes until lightly browned.
- Brush with melted butter or ghee as soon as it’s done and keep warm until serving.
Notes
Experiment with flavors by adding garlic or herbs to the dough. This naan can also be paired with hummus, tzatziki, or served with curries.
