Description

A warm dessert combining the nostalgic flavors of banana and whipped cream with the easy preparation of a dump cake.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 3 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, sliced
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1 cup whipped topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9×13 inch baking dish by greasing it with butter or non-stick spray.
  3. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the bottom of the dish.
  4. Scatter the sliced bananas over the cherry pie filling.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk the vanilla pudding mix with 2 cups of cold milk until it thickens, then pour it over the banana layer.
  6. Evenly distribute the yellow cake mix over the pudding layer.
  7. Dot the top with sliced butter and sprinkle the chopped nuts over everything.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbly.
  9. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a different flavor, substitute cherry pie filling with chocolate or strawberry, and use chocolate pudding instead of vanilla.
