Description
Deliciously chewy and rich chocolate bars perfect for the holiday season, evoking nostalgia and joy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan (9×13 works best) or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Cream together butter and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, beating well after each addition.
- Whisk together flour and baking soda; gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients until well combined.
- Stir in your chocolate chips—be generous; they’re the heart of this recipe!
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan, using a spatula to smooth the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the bars to cool in the pan before slicing them into squares.
Notes
For those extra-chewy edges, slightly underbake the bars. They’ll continue to cook as they cool.
