Description

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef chuck, cut into cubes
  • 2 large yellow onions, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 bell peppers (1 red, 1 green), diced
  • 2 tablespoons sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1 tablespoon caraway seeds
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté the onions until translucent.
  2. Add beef cubes to the pot and brown on all sides.
  3. Stir in garlic, paprika, and caraway seeds; cook for a minute until fragrant.
  4. Add bell peppers and cook until softened.
  5. Stir in tomato paste and beef broth; bring to a simmer.
  6. Add bay leaves, season with salt and pepper, and cover. Simmer on low for 2-3 hours or in a slow cooker for 6-8 hours.
  7. Remove bay leaves, adjust seasoning if necessary, and serve hot.

Notes

Serve with crusty bread or buttery noodles. Top with sour cream for added richness.
