Ingredients

- 2 lbs beef chuck, cut into cubes
- 2 large yellow onions, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 bell peppers (1 red, 1 green), diced
- 2 tablespoons sweet Hungarian paprika
- 1 tablespoon caraway seeds
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for sautéing
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté the onions until translucent.
- Add beef cubes to the pot and brown on all sides.
- Stir in garlic, paprika, and caraway seeds; cook for a minute until fragrant.
- Add bell peppers and cook until softened.
- Stir in tomato paste and beef broth; bring to a simmer.
- Add bay leaves, season with salt and pepper, and cover. Simmer on low for 2-3 hours or in a slow cooker for 6-8 hours.
- Remove bay leaves, adjust seasoning if necessary, and serve hot.
Notes
Serve with crusty bread or buttery noodles. Top with sour cream for added richness.
