- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- a pinch of salt
- Optional mix-ins: chopped nuts, mini marshmallows, crushed peppermint
Instructions
- Line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract, stirring until well mixed.
- Add the dry mixture to the saucepan, stirring continuously until thickens.
- If using, fold in nuts or marshmallows before finishing cooking.
- Pour the fudge into the prepared dish and smooth the top. Allow to cool, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
- Lift the fudge out, peel off parchment, and cut into squares.
Notes
Use low heat to prevent burning and ensure a smooth texture. Add a splash of milk if the fudge is too thick.
