  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, ensuring not to overmix.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon for the swirl.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture, layer the remaining batter, and finish with the rest of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  9. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth and drizzle over the warm cake once slightly cooled.
