Description

Delightful cookies combining the flavors of toasted almonds and rich chocolate, reminiscent of cherished family traditions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sliced almonds (or pecans/walnuts)
  • Zest of 1 orange (or lemon)
  • 8 oz semisweet chocolate (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  3. Gradually add the flour, followed by the sliced almonds and orange zest, mixing until combined.
  4. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are golden; let cool slightly.
  6. Melt the semisweet chocolate and dip half of each cookie, allowing excess to drip off.
  7. Let cool completely until chocolate firms up.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, replace butter with coconut oil. You can also use maple syrup or honey in place of granulated sugar.
