Description

A delightful blend of sweet and refreshing flavors, these Homemade Christmas Peppermint Sticks are a festive tradition that brings warmth and joy to the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup corn syrup
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Food coloring (red and white)
  • Butter or oil (for greasing)
  • Candy thermometer

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by greasing a baking sheet or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the ingredients in a medium-sized saucepan: sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it reaches a gentle boil, ensuring not to stir it once boiling.
  4. Add peppermint extract and food coloring once the mixture reaches 260°F (hard ball stage).
  5. Cool the mixture by pouring it onto the prepared baking sheet for a few minutes until safe to handle.
  6. Shape the sticks by pulling the edges towards the center and forming them into logs, then divide and shape them into individual sticks.
  7. Let the sticks cool completely at room temperature for about 20 minutes.
  8. Enjoy fresh or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Keep an eye on the candy thermometer and avoid stirring once the mixture is boiling to prevent crystallization.
