- 2 pounds boneless chicken thighs
- 1 cup full-fat yogurt
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 2 teaspoons garam masala
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken by combining yogurt, garlic, ginger, turmeric, garam masala, chili powder, and salt. Coat the chicken and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions until golden brown, then add garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant.
- Add crushed tomatoes and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Stir in the marinated chicken and cook for 15-20 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through.
- Mix in the heavy cream, adjusting seasoning as necessary, and simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
- Garnish with cilantro, and serve hot with basmati rice or naan.
Notes
For a dairy-free option, use coconut milk instead of cream. Adjust spice levels to taste.
